Everyone knows that it is common for children to 'invent' imaginary friends. I am sure that most of the time they are just that, imaginary friends, but is it possible that they can sometimes be a ghost or spirit?

In this amazing story (it really is) a woman talks about her daughter's imaginary friend. In this case it was really a ghost. The imaginary friend told the girl a lot of different information which she relayed to her mother. There was no way that the child could have known this stuff on her own.

The mother started asking neighbors and searching public records to learn about the history of the home.

This story will really leave you thinking and maybe even wondering about an imaginary friend you may have had as a child or even an imaginary friend that a child of your own may have now!

Read the story here --> My Daughter's Imaginary Friend Was an Evil Ghost

I decided to add a poll to this thread just to make it a little more interesting. I am also very curious to know what others might think about the subject.

Hi True

Great story!
I'm not sure how I would vote on your pole.

So I'll have to say that I'm sitting on the fence on this one.

Now my cousin had 2 imaginary friends when she was small.
You ask her about it now and she doesn't remember anything except what she has heard from what our parents remember about it.

Shocked

That is a great question! I'm on the fence with Bitterbuck1 on that one.
I've never experienced anyone that has had an 'imaginary' friend.

If your child does have an imaginary friend, ask your child questions about his new found friend.
That should help you decide if your child's 'friend' is a ghost or just that, an imaginary friend.

Bitterbuck1,
I'm curious...can you get any information on your cousins 'imaginary' friends?

I do understand your cousin doesn't remember, but maybe you can ask the parents?
I've never known anyone who has had an imaginary friend. Sounds interesting!

I have a relative who feels her kid had one.. I believe it is so. kids are more innocent and in tune to see spirits than adults...

I'm assuming the child is grown now? (as you wrote "had one")

Does the child (parents or other family members) remember anything about their imaginary friend...conversations, a description of the 'friend', a name, etc?

I have no children (as of yet) so talk of imaginary friends have my interests peaked.

Funny you should ask...
I saw my cousin last month and I was asking her about her 'friend'. She didn't remember anything of the imaginary friend.
What my Aunt remembers is that my cousin would play and talk for hours to this so called 'friend'.
Nothing unusual my Aunt said, they just played house ect.
No messages from the unknown nor any strange happenings around the home.
Guess my cousin had just that, an 'imaginary friend' no more no less.

The kid claims not to remember.. he is around 12 now. Nothing that I could seal in concrete. I tried to get the kid to think back but he don't want to. Bummer
