Yep, The moon looks great through my brothers one not sure how much zoom he has though.
We looked at jupiter and could see the moons in orbit around it, that was great.
That triangle UFO over the moon was the sort of great footage that may be caught if you have the kit.
Wish I had a couple of thousand spare.

i think you can get up to 100x zoom with camera - yeah if you caught something like them ufos flying across the moon, that would be proof for you and your family/friends who know you well and believe you 100%, but if you put it on youtube nobody else can know for sure

i wouldnt care as long as i knew and the only way is to see it and/or record it yourself

i would always have a camera with the scope because if i did catch something and hadnt recorded it i would never forgive myself - especially considering you dont know how many 100s or even 1000s hours observing you would do before you witness something

I know how anoying it is not to get it on film, so far I have had 3 sightings and since the first 2 were in the mid/late 90's nobody was carrying a mobile with a camera and camcorders were well out of my reach at that age.
The 3rd sighting was a couple of summers back and my 8mp camera phone died on the drive up as I was using the satnav on it, typicaly it was no help and at one stage said "turn left"and of course all I could see on the left was sea(dam thing).

Any time is good but I think you are more likley to see something at night. Clear nights are the best times to settle for a few hours and this sounds ridiculus now but like with ghosts think and even ask the UFO's to give you a sighting, can't say for sure if this will help but some people claim it does. Others say they felt drawn to look and then spotted something so if you ever get that feeling do it rather than think, "can't be bothered"
Also get a lazer pen so not only will that make pointing out areas to your mates easier but also if you do see something you can flash it to attempt to communicate, if that fails then you could have a little fun and point it at them!
I have seen some decent footage of a guy doing just this and the UFO flashed up in responce.

Though I had better add, never point a lazer at our planes though, you can get done or worse still cause the pilot to go blind. Everone knows that so not saying you would though.

Agentscott, here having said all that about how many hours it could take to witness a UFO, you could also just as easily see one the first night

Nice finds Cactus,
I paticuly like that first one by the moon, that didn't look like a shooting star to me, that was much to slow and did not appear to be burning up. Another good reason to get a scope of some kind.

I suppose it could have been something on the lens but it looked distant to me. I will put a fiver on that one! The fact that the guy zooms out as if suprised is gives it credit, he doesn't quite get there in time, that counts for quite a bit in my opinion.

The second vid also looks good but it looks like it was filmed on a naf camera so it's a pity about the digital zoom kicking in, still it looks like a clump of OBL's and it's certenly not a plane. Very Happy Usually the OBL's pulstate but they didn't, Hmmm.

i agree with you on both videos - i wonder how much it would cost for a good camera with scope

The voice of experience

We are receiving hundreds of reports every month of normal, terrestrial events, e.g. over-flights of the International Space Station, the Space Shuttle, or satellites; flares of light from Iridium satellites; the appearance of typical meteors; and observations of normal, twinkling stars, planets, contrails, clusters of balloons, etc. In fact, the overwhelming majority of reports that we receive now are of these normal objects and events.

I am flabbergasted by what people report to our Center as UFOs which are nothing more than objects, or events, of normal, terrestrial, origin.

I believe the majority of time I spend on the Hotline is devoted to trying to convince people who have been staring for hours at a star or planet that the object of interest is not a UFO.
