Aberglasney, a famous restoration project and a wonderful gardens, is also a very haunted place indeed.

The surrounding areas have seen many fierce battles fought, one particularly violent one taking place in 1257.

Along one of the upstairs corridors, candles are seen to move, as if being carried, but without anybody there.

The most haunted piece, however, is the famous Blue Room. In 1630 (ish) six maids were found dead in their beds. The cause of death isn't known for sure, but it's believed that either a) the chimney blocked, and they died from smoke inhalation, b) arsenic, from the wallpaper in the room, or c) that the lime plaster used in a major reconstruction around that time, gave off the fumes that led to the deaths. People complain of a spine chilling feeling now on entering the room, and during the 30s, when the building was unoccupied, workmen were using a ladder to reach a growth of ivy by the window. Workman went up ladder, workman came down ladder even quicker, and said there were a group of ladies in vistorian dress staring out at him. Possibly the maids as your average workman wouldn't neccessarily know his 17thC from his 19thC ladies attire.

The Blue room is situated on the first floor of the Eastern Wing. The below picture was taken from just North of due east, though I couldn't tell you which window is the one.

That is pretty scary stuff. and yet so tradgic. I wouldn't know what the heck i would do if i saw floating candles or can you imagine going up a ladder only to have the ghostly figures staring back at you.

Lol but i suppose that just comes down to my phobia of windows again. lol
