How much do you believe in ghosts?. Are you on the fence, an outright sceptic or a total non-believer?. If you were challenged and had the opportunity would you spend the night alone in an allegedly haunted house - where people had reported a number of similar paranormal experiences of a decidedly scary nature?.

Feel free to expand on your answers.

Very Happy

I'd certainly be slightly anxious and like most people a slave to my own imagination, especially if the anecdotal or investigative evidence was compelling but not conclusive obviously Wink .
Despite being a sceptic I'm still open to the remote possibility that malevolent forces may exist and revel in fright and terror. However I'd be inclined to reason any unusual sights or more probably sounds away with rational thought and investigation with a powerful torch and a hefty stick Very Happy .
Having investigated supposedly haunted locations in the past - some of them alone I can say from experience that we're sometimes our own worst enemy when it comes to the paranormal - the more we're on the scale of belief towards the 'firm believer' then the more we're inclined to interpret every noise etc as confirming that belief.

i have heard lots of noises over the years and other similar things but unlike some who assume its paranormal i dont - for me i would have to see an object move/levitate/be thrown by itself (which i never have yet) or see an apparition - noises, orbs and other silly shit like that dont interest me

ive just remembered once years ago at halloween - i was about 15 - my friends had a bet that i go into an old run down derilict house and stay in it for 10 minutes and i did it - probably peer pressure or whatever, not wanting to look like a tit, but i was the only one - one other went in and straight out he just said f**k that

when i went in it was dead quiet and dead dark - only moonlight - this was in a country area - it was a small cottage up a lane - and the amount of creaks and other noises i heard was unbelievable - when i went in i wasnt afraid but after about 30 seconds i was scared lol i walked around but there was sh*t all over the floor and i was walking into things - i just kept constantly looking behind me Shocked but i would have to say nothing paranormal happened - just a cheap thrill/scare

the house wasnt reported to be haunted or anything - it was just creepy looking

I hope it wasn't your sh*t on the floor Very Happy

All houses - even new ones and especially derelict ones will make noises and these will come from a variety of sources from animals and insects through to timber, brick, stone and pipework.

Good on you for going in though Wink

just last week i went up to my dads house to get a couple of things - there was no one there and the house is in the country - different to where i live in town always noise - it was about 10pm and dark - you could hear a pin drop - i was sorting out some things for about 15 minutes and all of a sudden there was dripping coming from the showerhead in his bath - i went in and for whatever reason i got that feeling that there was someone/something there - all the hairs on the back of my neck were standing up and i was sort of freaked out

it was most likely just my mind playing trricks on me, combined with filling my head with haunted houses and ghost stories from this site Laughing but i can never remember my hair standing on edge like that before for a prolonged period (about 30sec - minute) and like shivers down my neck - some people would say that they felt a presence but i cant because nothing moved by itself + i didnt see anything

but 2 minutes later i was in the car driving out Laughing

I'm actually on the fence when it comes to ghosts, Iv'e never seen one myself but certenly do get the fear factor when going to spooky places.
Sometimes I get a feeling when going up the stairs in the dark, if I don't go fast enough up then some unseen hand could grab at me, spooky!

I would definatly go into a haunted place even if I knew the ripper was a spirit in there, purley out of curiousity and beleiving that that if they are real they can't harm me.

Actually im going back to Arlsford church in a few days so will get some footage at least of the building.

I do beleive that there is a fine line between the ghosts and UFO's..
I consider orbs, indoor UFO's and Cactus when you see a proper one then you will be agreeing that they should not be dismissed. Not orbs on photos but actuall floating balls of light with a purpose.

I have seen blue lights too and they are weird.
Perhaps orbs are mistaken identities of small UFO's.

Id spend the night in a "haunted house" if i could take my dvd player all the better!
I used to take part in urban exploration and visited many old mills, factories and places during quiet spells at work, heard many things and allways put it down to imagination, although there is the chance it could be a hobo or druggie, to which i always kept £20 in my pocket and left my wallet in the car.

There was a cinema in south manchester which was very eerie, sworn i seen some one but couldnt find any one.

Imagination plays a big part in it.

Very true Carlos, imagination accounts for the vast vast majority of ghosts.
Would you watch Paranormal Activity on your DVD player? Very Happy

Put simply, no.

Maybe my fear does get the better of me watching horror films, but I feel I am purposely viewing a film which is designed to frighten the viewer and therefore allowing my imagination to run riot.

Id probably continue with the second season of knight rider or to keep things light, something from the minds of simon pegg and nick frost.

Maybe it is the point, to spook or scare ones self, but where do you draw the line from mild scare to freaked out?

I wouldnt watch a film because it may freak me out and my mind would run riot, just like I wouldnt stick my fingers in a plug socket because I know I would get a shock.

thats probably the difference between you and me - i sometimes push my curiousity to the limit - i will do something that will leave me freaked out - but a couple of days later the effect has worn off so its no big deal
