Demolition workers photograph 'ghost of former guesthouse worker'
Demolition workers were given a fright after photographing a ghostly figure peering through the window of a derelict Victorian guesthouse in Kendal, Cumbria.

What gets me is how can anyone recognise this smudge as someone they knew? Very Happy
No doubt this constitutes 'proof' that ghosts exist for many people all over the internet Paranormal forums.

In this case, I believe it probably is a ghost. DB that is more than just a smudge.

Why do you think it's probably a ghost Cactus?.

D B Sweeney, because of the man's story, who believes it is his mother, who used to work there and loved the building, combined with the actual photo itself, which is fairly good IMO.

But I do have to say probably, not definitely.

But I do have to say probably, not definitely.

Let's look at what the claims are.
David Grimshaw, a former resident at the property, said he was convinced the figure is the ghost of his mother, who died nearly a year ago aged 87.
There are no detail in what passes for the face - no eyes, no nose, no wrinkles - just a vague face shaped smudge. The 'hair' is jet black. One would have thought an 87 year olds hair would probably be grey.
He believes her spirit may have appeared to protest at the demolition of Meadowbank House, which she adored.
If she was intent on protest why didn't she simply appear right infront of the demolition workers and voice her protest or wave her ghostly arms about rather than stand behind a window full of condensation?.
"That is my mother. I'm totally convinced – no one else looks like that. She had glasses and big earrings and she used to wear a dress with a bow at the front,"
Can anyone on here see glasses, earrings and a bow on that figure?.
Demolition supervisor Robert Johnson, 38, of Heysham, took the photograph of the house shortly before it was knocked down, earlier this week but it was only later that he noticed the ghostly figure.
"It wasn't until I got home and showed my wife that we spotted the woman," he said.

People rarely see ghosts when they take the original photos because nothing looks out of the ordinary until someone points something out and plants the ghostly seed. In this case it was Roberts wife who probably said something like, "Oh my Rob that looks a bit like a person in that shot". The facts are then matched to the picture - in this case a protest by a dead former resident.
"You can see the jewellery on her and everything. I've always been a sceptic but I'll have to believe in ghosts now."
No jewellery or any discerning features are visible. It looks vaguely human and that is about it. I'll have to remain sceptical about this ghost Very Happy

True flossy - you can never know for sure with a story like this, but I do believe that what he is claiming is possible, and so I just made educated guess, and decided this one is probably real. 75% chance it's real IMO.

Anything's possible Cactus but not everything is probable. I'd like to see a recent picture of this dead lady, preferably before she died so that we can make a comparison. Also it would have helped if someone had taken an inside shot of the area the 'ghost' was standing but that's not gonna happen as the house is now dust.
What are you basing 75% probability of it being real Cactus - the fact that it's such a clear photo and it's been verified by the son because he can see the obvious earrings and glasses on the old dead dear?.

I am basing it on the fact that the lady loved that house, and it would make sense that she was there while it was getting stripped out, also she was standing at the exact same window that she used to stand at for hours on end when working.

Another thought is that she decided to be in that photo so she would be remembered (her love for the building would be remembered) and it would be a record of all the time she spent there.

Obviously I believe in life after death and ghosts, so this case is just probable IMO.

I don't think it is a hoax - it just isn't elaborate or interesting enough to be IMO.

If she wanted to be remembered and leave no one in any doubt that it was her why appear behind a window full of moisture. Why not simply materialise on the other side of the wall and glass right in front of the photographer where she could clearly be identified?......cue explanation about her spirit not being able to leave the property etc etc.
I don't think it's a hoax either Cactus I just think the evidence is flimsy and people are seeing what they want to see and what fits in with their beliefs.
