| Because it can't prove disapproval. Your answer is shallow and inputs no effort and yet you request that others show proof to you. Even main stream science admits it is in its infancy, what you see isn't always what is there and what what is there ain't always what it would seem. Closed minded blind chatter is worse than any metaphysical inquiry.Metaphysics is the science of tomoro, the world is not flat DB. But you will have heard this all before and will have stuffed it in your mental bag. Blind scientific belief is worst than religion, it stops you thinking beyond your potential. |

Here we go again.
How can you prove that something isnt there? because there is nothing to prove.
Surely you should be providing the non believers evidence of an afterlife considering that its something you hold so close and apparantley so many people have solid evidence of.
Why cant people have full blown recorded conversations with the dead if they do speak to them?
Why cant a number of pictures contain the image of the same spirit?
Why cant ghosts manipulate a computer to show words on a screen?
You want proof of the non existance of an after life, you already have it. |

Metaphysics is a traditional branch of philosophy
according to Wikipedia .
Therefore anything goes in metaphysics because it's purely philosophical - unlike hard science Iain which is what we use to properly understand the world and how it works.

Nobody not even skeptics are saying people have not experienced ghosts, people have indeed on occasion experienced what might be termed an apparition or ghost, according to some surveys such experiences may even be common amongst certain populations. But it comes down to what they actually are and their cause and as you know there are many theories about ghosts ranging from the scientific to totally metaphysical, there really is not point in debating it, these debates have been going on since the 1800s and even before. The problem is, it is very hard to test any hypothesis regarding ghosts.
In mainstream science (i.e. anomalistic psychology) they are described as hallucinations, delusions, or the result of magical thinking, mental imagery or mistakes in perception.
Claiming that ghosts are spirits of the deceased is not only paranormal interpretation. Theres also stuff like the stone tape theory.

None of these are really theories though, none of them have been tested. They may classify as a hypothesis. One day someone make some progress in some of these interpretations or hypotheses but until then you either go with the scientific explanation which is described in psychology or you deny it and advocate a paranormal interpretation. What evidence do you have for any paranormal interpretation? |
