I was a young boy about the age of 6 living in the city of Leicester, England. I was lying in bed one night unable to sleep (somethings never change) and unaware of how long I'd been in bed. Lying there trying to nod of I suddenly became aware of a strange noise coming from out side. The noise was a fairly high pitched and constant "WOOOOO" kind of sound, that for some reason sparked my curiosity and replaced my desire to sleep.

As quick as possible I climbed down the ladder from my bed and went to the window. I cautiously opened the curtains as (due to the nature of the sound and my imagination, I half expected to see a ghost staring back at me). I looked out the window and at first saw nothing. The sound continued , and then I saw it.

Looking up into the sky I could see the front of something that was flying over my house. eventually it had flown far enough for me to be able to see the whole thing. A huge metalic disk, covered in blue lights (I assume were windows). Two tubes stuck out the back (in relation to the direction it was moving in) and the ends of each tube was lit up in red. Thats just what it looked like, its appearance to me is fairly irrelevant.

Being at the age of 6 I was ignorant to the concept of UFO's Aliens and the like. But for some reason the UFO I was looking at filled me with fear. It was like some kind of primordial, instinctive fear that I have never expirenced since. Due to this expirence I can actually relate to Lovecraft stories where the main characters/narrators talk about how strange objects unsettle them for apparantly no reason.

I stood there watching it, unable to move as it flew slowly across the sky and over the houses opposite mine. I stayed there for a while after until the sound had gone, and then I crawled back into bed and didn't fall asleep. Unfortunatly no one believed my story when I told them in the morning, but then who actually takes anything a 6 year old has to say seriously?

This expirence still haunts me occasionally. Sometimes I have dreams featuring strange flying machines that I don't recognise (some of them turned out to be advertising stunts :-s). Although I have never dreamt about the specific UFO I saw.
If I've been thinking about that expirence I become very reluctant to look out any of my windows and when it comes to bed time will lie in bed hoping not to hear that sound, for nearly most of the night. As I right this I have become conscious of the window behind me and I really don't want to look out there even though I'm in a different house now.

Possibly, but where I lived then was mostly populated by Indians who couldn't speak much English, so I wasn't able to communicate with em (well that and I was only 6 at the time)
I'm hoping someone saw it and will see this :-p
