One of the last true castles to be built in Wales, Raglan Castle was built over the period of 1435 to 1525 on the site of a Norman motte castle by Sir William ap Thomas, the Blue Knight of Gwent. William was a Welsh knight who fought at the Battle of Agincourt with King Henry V in 1415. William was responsible for building the great tower at Raglan, which became known as the Yellow Tower of Gwent.

A lot of people who visit the castle scared out of their witts by glimpses of a bardic figure, gesturing them to come to him which is the vicinity of the wing over which the library was once situated. He is thought to be the ghost of the castleís librarian. He was a bit of a nervous wreck in his time as he hid the valuable books and manuscripts that contained information and plans for the civil war at the time in a secret tunnel beneath the castle in fear something would happen to them, but it turned out to be a good idea for one of the first acts carried out by the enemy was the destruction of Raglanís library. No one knows how the librarian died but he is very much a part of the ghostly activity at the castle in these days. One main encounter that was recorded was by one young school girl who claims she was unaware of the ghost story. Aspart of a school trip in 2001 she saw the ghostly character beckoning her from the corner of a stone wall and she bascially run back to the school bus shaking and scared of what she saw. Many people have reported seeing strange shadows but also there are othr spirits that haunt the castle so they have never been sure with what it is they seen.

The first three pictures I have had on my computer for a while but no idea who they were taken by so I will not take credit for them,

However

These followng pictures were taken on my poor quality camera phone (Not as good as my other camera phone) a couple of months ago when I visited raglan catle. Strange thing I did take a lot of pictures down in the dungeons but they never turned out properly.

I am always amazed at any and all pics of castles.
Wish I could have seen how they looked and operated back in the day.
Being in the States we have nothing to compare these to.
(Nothing I can think of at this time)
Thanks for sharing the photos Damara.
