Here is some of the basic equiptment you will need to record EVP. The equiptment you use is the backbone of how well you will do. Heres the standard list.
Patch Cord - A patch cord is a device you use to transfer your audio data from your recording device to your computer you can buy in either mono or stereo from your local electronic supply store (stereo is best and i'd suggest 1/8th"
Sound Card-this is either located 'onboard' your pc or you can buy it seperately as a PCI card and installed on your systems motherboard. a 16bit soundcard and soundblaster should be fairly affordable and fit your needs
Line-in-jack-this is the input jack located on your computers sound card, in betweeen your speaker jack and your mic jack is where your patch cord will be plugged in(...usually the middle jack)
Digital Recorder-Most commonly used in the paranormal field, saves money on cassettes!
OR
Cassette Recorder-Good way for begginers to learn and you can get some great results if done properly
Cassette tapes-don't think i really need to explain what these are.... but there are two types....
Low Bias-These are cheaper but produce more background hiss
High Bias-better quality,(closer to cd quality) this is more reccomended for EVP
Microphone-obviously! but again theres two types you can use
Internal-The internal mic's on digital recorders are normally ok but not so much on a cassette recorder (you get internal wheel noise too which doesn't help!)
External- would definately reccomend if using a cassette recorder and would place it as far away as poss to eliminate any mechanical noise or feedback
Software-A lot of people with argue which software is best but its completely down to you, I would say (if your a begginer or watching the cash!) trying acoustica or gold wave my personal favourite is sound forge (but can get a little expensive!) |

I want to go chase some ghosts and meet some supernatural things...would be better than watching the 10 o clock news, although if you watch that you might start to think the news casters are ghosts and skeletons as well, they are pretty boring and dry |
