Not bad bitter - we are getting the tail end of a hurricane here today lol - there are bins and trampolines flying all over the place Laughing How are things with you?

Watch out for the bins and those pesky trampolines Cactus!!

While I was in Maine we too got the tail end of hurricane Irene that
came up the east coast. We were lucky where we were, just wind
and a bit of rain. Some states lost power and they had flooding.

Crazy weather we are all having!!! Shocked

Hey bitter - one day there I came across a 'dust devil' on the internet - I had never heard of them before and it showed a picture of one in arizona (think it was wiki) and I thought of you lol - have you ever seen one?

Oh yeah! Laughing It's like a mini whirlwind. It blows dust and crap everywhere.
As kids we would run or ride our bikes through them.

Coming down the mountain from my folks place you can see up to 5 or more dust devils in the valley below. A natural occurrence here. Very Happy

I've seen some quite large, large enough to blow around trash bins.

Not sure how they got the name 'dust devils'. LOL

A snippet from wiki

"The Australian English term "willy-willy" or "whirly-whirly" is thought to derive from Yindjibarndi or a neighboring language.[2] In Aboriginal myths, willy willies represent spirit forms. They are often quite scary spirits, and parents may warn their children that if they misbehave, a spirit will emerge from the spinning vortex of dirt and chastise them. There is a story of the origin of the brolga in which a bad spirit descends from the sky and captures the young being and abducts her by taking the form of a willy-willy."
