If you are interested in Ghost Hunting then I assure you this a thread that will bring you much joy...
I will be trying to document as much of my research as possible in this thread, both so I have them all together in one place and so I can see what you guys think!
I thought a good place to start would be off the back of my most recent hunt at Oxford Castle. So first question... has anyone else been there? Its a wonderful place you guys should really check it out!
Anyway right here is an EVP sample I took that night in the crypt. We had lots of activity in the crypt area and had much sucess using the ouija board and an EMF meter in this area so I was eager to get these recordings home for analysis.

Thoughts?
Also no way to embbed youtube videos on this site? |

I went to investigate a possible haunting today. I spoke to a little old lady on the phone and she asked me to come and have a look.
I rocked up outside this old ladies house, I had a bad feeling when I saw the front lawn strewn with garbage and the odour coming from the house would make a skunk cringe. I took one last deep breath of clean air and knocked on the door.
Inside of the house was even worse, I had to clamber over a mountain of waste to gwt to the kitchen. Good god the kitchen was revolting, there was old chicken bones, mould and a decomposing rat (which I imagine died from the stench) just talking about it is turning my stomach.
After politely turning down a cup of tea, as I feared it may be my last, it was down to business. I asked the lady why she had called me, I mean did she have a spirit or a poltergeist or even something more interesting. My hopes were maybe too high, and I laughed when she said she had a plague of flies. I couldn't believe it, a stinky old woman in a mouldy old house, and the only possible explanation must be a paranormal one.
When your in a position like this every fibre in your body wants to be honest and say "look love, you stink, your house stinks to high heaven and that is why you have a flies issue. Instead though you have to be polite. She told me a neighbour had cursed her so I agreed that could be the cause and ran some tests (I turned a tap on to see if the water had turned into blood) and searched for signs of frogs all to no avail. Obviously.
I gave the woman the number for a cleaner and told her that my friend could help her more than i possibly could. Some serious whack jobs out there. |

Re: the EVP, at what point in the recording is the EVP specifically heard Mark?.
Cheers.

In the video's description you state: this particular one was in the Crypt and corresponded with high readings on the KII meter which is used for measuring electrical spirit energy.
Do EMF meters really detect spirits or 'energy' allegedly given off by spirits?. For any piece of equipment to be useful there must be some proven connection to ghosts/spirits. If ghosts were known to emit electromagnetic fields, then a device that measures such fields would be useful. The problem is that there is no body of research that shows that any of the energies these devices are measuring have anything to do with ghosts. Readings on such devices can come from a number of potentially unknown electromagnetic sources. Despite looking, there has not been a single study that shows that these devices can detect a ghostly presence.
Every reading, whether a fluctuation in the field, a drop in temperature or anything else can always be attributed to some source other than a ghost - even if an investigator gets an 'anomalous' reading, there's simply no way to prove it was caused by a ghost. The evidence gathered by these devices will, at best, be inconclusive.

Hey DB!
The words which were picked up actually appear in writing on the video, originally to make it easier to understand. Can you imagine how many times I had to listen to the recording over and over to pick up what was being said?!
I'm very glad to see that you have gone to the effort of reading up about the KII meter and your question is a very good and important one! You are quite right that the EMF readings alone do not prove anything and they are just used to measure changes in the enviornment that are usually invisible to the human eye. Its just one of a range of tools used in conjunction with each other, you would want to gather as much information as possible wouldn't you? |

I agree Mark, the more data gathered the better. But going back to the K2 meter and indeed any other measuring devices you use on location such as Thermometers - do you do any baseline tests prior to an investigation and if so what form do they take?. I only ask because if devices are used in investigations, they only way the data is going to be measurable is via a detailed and comprehensive analysis of the location where the alleged phenomenon is taking place - ideally taking readings over several days.
