Hi all,

Sorry if this is long winded. Would just like some opinions please.

This afternoon my husband was at football and I was home working in my office which is upstairs.

Our dog a 2 1/2 year old Staffy was for the most part laying in here with me.

The dog started jumping on me and kept running over to the doorway and would back away from the door and then run and hide under my desk.

I got up and walked out into the hall to see what she was looking at and noticed the cat in the next room in the box. The dog who normally chases the cat still wouldn't come out of the office. So I started heading downstairs and the dog finally bolted out of the room and followed me down.

The back door in the kitchen was wide open, I wasn't surprised by this as it really needs to be slammed or locked to stay shut. So I figured the cat pushed it open and came in which he does frequently.

The dog followed me closely to the back door but wouldn't step out. She immediately ran into the livingroom. I walked around for a few minutes just checking that another cat or animal hadn't followed my cat in and after finding nothing went upstairs.

The dog followed me at a normal pace until she got to the hall landing and then ran back into my office and under the desk. She was shaking and I tried reassuring her.

I got up and went into the spare room where the cat was and called the dog who only popped her head out the door but wouldn't come out.

My husband finally came in, and he stood in the hall calling the dog. She timidly would come out sniff around the hallway, and then run back in my office.

At this point my husband gets down and smells the carpet. Just to see if perhaps the cat or dog had an accident that had dried and we didn't see. He couldn't find anything and no weird smell. Incidentally, the animals haven't had accidents in the house since they were house trained.

So it's now been about 8 hours and dog is still afraid to go into the hallway. I decided to take some pictures in the hallway both with the lights on and with the lights off. I also took pictures in my office.

In the hall pictures there are 3-5 orbs on most of the images both when lights are on, and lights off. None whatsoever in my office. Now I've never believed in orbs, I still think they are dust. The air from downstairs bringing up dust etc.

However; my dog's current behaviour and the pictures just have me wondering what's going on.

Any ideas?

Again apologies for the length of my post

It could be something paranormal, but I wouldn't jump to any conclusions. Just keep an eye on the animals to see if this unusual behaviour continues, or if anything else unusual happens, then you can decide what it could be and what to do about it etc...

does your dog get spooked easily or is this the first time she's acted like this?

Who knows what your dogs senses picked up. Probably something perfectly mundane and non supernatural IMO. Forget about it, the dogs behaviour will return to normal soon enough.
Not everything in life has a paranormal cause...

This could be a high pitched sound or vibration which your dog is sensing. Check for E.M.F levels in that area. These levels will cause headaches and such like and also the feeling of been watched. I would have expected the cat to have picked up on it more though?
Yes could be some form of spirit energy, but as DB said discount it all first.
As for orbs, light anomalies are very difficult to prove and IMO not really worth the effort in cases like this.
You could try leaving a Dictaphone in the hall where the dog is scared, preferably at night when its good and quiet. Then listen back. But don't just to conclusions. Be careful how you analyse the information, don't start scaring yourself or you could end up producing our own haunting (thats another subject).

Hmm. Interesting. Years and years ago a man drowned in the canal. That night, my dad took our dog out for her nightly walk, but she wouldn't walk past the spot where this man had died. We lived on a house right by the canal so our house wasn't far from the spot. My dad tried to coax her to keep walking, but she wouldn't. She ended up freaking out that much she got free from her leash and ran up to the house at the speed of light. My dad could sense a weird presense as well that gave him the shakes.
