Love the site! Just joined today so thought I’d give you a little intro!

I’m 26 and live in Leeds in the UK. I have a little boy Dan who is 16 months old.

I’ve been interested in paranormal / ghosts for years. I believe in psychic abilities, Astral projection, clairvoyance, clairaudience and stuff like that. Although the only one of these that I have been successful at was Astral projection which I have managed twice.

Well, I can’t think of what else to add! It’s always nice to meet like minded folk and I look forward to getting to know you all.

Hi there! Thanks for the welcome!

I don’t mind at all telling you about my projections. Neither of them were conscious exists, I was kind of dreaming and then became conscious that I wasn’t in my body. The first one happened when I was poorly and I was dreaming. I was in a kind of reception, there was a desk and a few people stood around. I became aware that I was dreaming and sometimes I do this and have a lucid dream where I can change things in my dream. But this time I was totally conscious. I could feel my own hand! There was a woman stood by me with blonde hair, she looked at me and smiled and shook her head and her hair turned brown, lol. I suddenly thought that if I was out of my body then I could fly, so I bent my legs and pushed upwards and started floating. I got higher and higher until I was almost at the ceiling. I have friends who can project and I know that there shouldn’t be a problem going through a solid roof but it freaked me a little and I woke up in my bed! I felt like my whole body was buzzing and felt like I was on a real high for hours after.

The other time was when I was staying at a friends. I actually thought that I had woken up and got out of bed, it was as real as me getting out of bed every morning! But I looked around and realised that I was actually in the bedroom that I had grown up in as a child. I thought to myself that I must be out of body. I turned around and could see myself asleep on the bed! I was trying to fly, but was more kind of hovering a meter or so off of the floor. I had to push against the wall to move. I noticed the door open and went to the hallway. Our cat (who had actually passed away but this thought didn’t occur to me until I was back in my body) was sat in the hallway and looked at me, she seemed to smile, lol. I heard a noise coming from outside so went back to the bedroom to look through the window. There were a few people walking along the street and it kind of scared me, the thought of meeting someone out of body and I suddenly woke up in my bed with the same buzzing feeling as before.

So there you have it, sorry it was so long! If you have any questions please feel free to ask.

What a trip!
I hope I can word this next question correctly. When you were in this 'state' did you feel anchored/connected to your body?
No, let's try this one, did you feel like you were still 'tied' (for lack of a better word) to your body?
Fire if this doesn't make any sense, I don't blame you, I can't seem to get the question out correctly.

Your friends that can also do this (projection) are they able to do it at will? Is this something that you can 'practice' to attain?

I think I know what you mean. But during these two I felt no ‘connection’ to my physical body. I just felt like I was in my physical body. However when I have been trying to practise projection I have occasionally felt myself floating upwards and have then got excited about it which seems to snap myself back into my body. And each time I have been snapped back into my body I have felt a kind of inner pull. Like I was on some kind of elastic. Hope this is what you were talking about.

I do think that it is something that can be learn with practise. Friends who can do it (all online friends, not people who I know), most of them are spontaneous, but I think that one of them can do it at will. I met them on a forum and have been a member for a couple of years now.

That's what I was trying to get at...the connection (coming back to your body) feeling like an elastic cord.
Is meditation and astral projection go hand in hand? Meaning, do you need meditation to astral project?

I don't meditate as such when I am practising. But I do lay down (or comfortable reclined) and use some basic breathing techniques to try and relax myself.

I get to a stage when I feel really really heavy like I am sinking into the bed. When I get to this stage I usually start to hear a high pitched buzzing. I tend to use either the motion or rope techniques. Both require quite good visualisation.

For the motion technique I imagine that I am on a swing and swinging higher and higher. You need to actually visualise that you are moving and feeling yourself moving. For the rope you visualise yourself climbing out of your body on a rope. If you google on Astral Projection techniques you will probably find much more detail on these.

Some people hear all sorts of noises but I mainly hear a buzzing. I can quite easily get to the vibration stage which is something that a lot of people get just as their astral body seperates from their physical. It literally feels like the whole room adn your body is vibrating. Unfortunately you need to remain quite calm and relaxed at this point which I seem unable to do. I get excited and the vibrations fade away.

Another thing that can help is affirmations. Saying to yourself 'i will get out of body and I will remember it' before you go to sleep can help you to become aware during a dream and have a lucid dream or projection just like I did.

Is this something that you are interested in? Have you been trying at all? I can also highly recommend the William Buhlam books. They are very easy to read and really helpful.

You know, I'm a bit apprehensive about even trying it. I feel that I won't have control over myself/body.

Guess I'm just chicken to try.
I need to read up on it. I'll look for the book you have mentioned by William Buhlam.
