 the original legends says that, as a werewolf is unholy and evil, then  it can only be killed by a siver bullet made from a melted down crucifix. the legend has evolve since mainly due to po culture, books and movies!
 
 Just in case anyone is wondering, yes I do now that werewolves are only legend!

 I didn't realize that the silver must be from a crucifix.

 The silver bullet as a means to kill a Werewolf was largely the creation of Hollywood. It has nothing to do with religion and was simply a useful and quick way to wrap up a 90 minute film so that Lon Chaney Jnr could get off home.
