Many years ago i worked at the above mentioned establishment. It was an old coaching inn, and therefore full of history and, not surprisingly, stories of ghosts. Many of which one hears so often on starting somewhere that one tends to ignore them.
Now, the main bar of this place was the old courtyard, which had since been glassed over. The older rooms still lined the balcony around this courtyard whilst the newer ones were in a seperate block.
Anyway, every night around 11:30 ish I used to catch a glimpse of someone walking along this balcony. Of course, when I looked nobody was there. I always assumed it was the ghost, but never had the proof I needed.
Then one night......
Instead of running the bar, I was cashing up in the reception/office area (located on the same level as some of the rooms, and the balconys). It'd been quiet, and I'd done all I could before closing, so i was taking a breather, and leaning over the desk. This is when I noticed what looked like a part of a figure moving up the stairs. Best way to describe it is to say imagine looking at dust falling through light as it comes in through a window. Now, imagine that, only without the light, and without the window. Then imagine that in the form of a body from around the waist up to the top of the shoulders, after which it faded, and moving up the stairs at walking pace. It then disappeared, and reappeared further up the stairs, before disappearing once again.
For some strange reason i wasn't scared, just fascinated by this, and was able to look around for possible explanations (lighting etc) but could find nothing.
That, ladies and gents, was my first, and to date only, experience that I cannot find any possible explanation for other than ghost! |

Welcome BG, tbh it was the kind of experience one usually waits a lifetime for. Best way to see something like that though is to keep your mind totally open. That's to say not only to any ghost being possible, but also to non ghost. It was the thinking about all possibilities that kept me calm, enabled me to rationalise things, and realise that there was no other explanation |

Hi
stayed last night in the older part of the hotel normally would book twin rooms over the newer side.
As soon as i walked into the room i felt uneasy, no quick fire exits etc, took a ton of photos before going out for the night didnt think nowt of it.
came back about 3am, drifting of to sleep, the bathroom door creaked, got up shut the door and closed the window thinking it was that.
Back in bed the door creaks again, no breeze no windows opened, realised that the bathroom had vents so i went ahead and closed them.
about half an hour later drifting off again the door creaks open yet again this time i knew that there was no way that door could open itself, then i heard a continuous amount of low sounding clicking noises and slight thudding of what seemed to be foot steps. turned the light on nothing. for the rest of the night the clicking and the thudding continued and as u can imagine i didnt sleep.
Anyways the next day my friend decided to tell me that on her way to her room on the newer side a member of staff said your lucky your staying over that side as the older side is haunted, she decided not to tell me this till the next morning. Asked the woman on the desk the next morning whether the place was haunted she said yes there are 4 ghosts in all maybe more, a cavalier, a black dog and two young girls.
Later that day looking through the pictures i came across of series of orbs, strange flashes, glowing spots in areas where a camera flash would not rebound off of anything and a strange looking object in the end window which when i enlarged the picture and changed the distorted contrast turned out to look like a young girl with long back hair smiling at us whilst taking picture before going out, not just the one picture though the next one showed her again facing away and the outline of her being more pronounced.
Another photo was of what looked like to be two small eyes, at the time i thought it resembled a cat but after the woman said about a black dog i would assume it was that
I would love to go back again and capture some more stuff would be great, i wished i could find out more on the royal victoria and bull from the 1700's i love studying this sort of stuff. |

i kind of knew it was haunted due to the age of the building its more then likely going to have someone dewling within its walls, i have had many an experience when it comes to ghosts, one being seeing my grandad walk along 3 days after he had dies in ireland in the middle of no where where my nan and grandad lived, ive seen and felt my cat the day after she passed away, walking the dog towards a 300 year old deserted farm house, dog pulls the other way which normally she would be pulling, videoed my adventure only to play back shadows and stains around window ledges i could not see when i was there but could on the video playback, living at my dads house where the previous tenant had died and not been found for 2 months, her ghost was spotted brushing her hair in the mirror, and not forgetting what sounded like the banshees screams from a child....

im very skeptical when it comes to these things, but i believe something was watching that night, i also remember living above a pub where the last tenant had shot himself, the gun was never found, sitting in our room one night i was winding my ex bf up saying come on stan come sit on the bed, for one all mighty hot summers night, the air suddenly turned cold and my ex was frozen to the spot, and for someone like him that didnt believe in the paranormal he was shook up, happened quite a few times after that. |
