A few weeks ago the weather was really nice up here (Southern Scotland). My partner and I decided to go on a picnic with our two dogs down by our local river. I was not working that day nor was she.
The weather was hot and sunny with virtually clear skies but a slight breeze. NB it had been like that for a few days previously.
Anyhooo we found a nice spot by the river and proceeded to eat our sandwiches, throw sticks for the dawgs and just enjoy the day. After a short while I got adventurous and waded across the river to the opposite bank with the dogs in hot and wet pursuit
This being farmland it's not unusual to find farmers debris on the land in the form of left packaging, fence material, rope, wire etc. As I played with the dogs I noticed (on the grass) a thin sliver of polythene with a reflective surface on one side no more than two hands in size.
Obviously I saw it but took no notice of it because of it's unremarkable nature. After our frolics on this opposite river bank we headed back, all wet n sweaty to rest on our picnic blanket on the opposite shore.
As I relaxed looking across the river, to the opposite bank where we'd just been I saw the sliver of plastic rise - caught by the breeze and dance in every increasing circles.
On and on it rose, sometimes it dropped several feet and looked like it would land but just at the last moment the hot breeze caught it and lifted it stronger and further and higher.
I was fascinated. I was more than fascinated I was actually surprised that this sliver of polythene could take on a life of its own and escape its earthly chains.
I watched that small piece of plastic rise onwards and upwards for what seemed like thousands of feet. Catching the sun, shining like a daytime star but forever rising and being carried out of sight.
After 20 minutes it rose so high and drifted so far away my old bad eyes lost sight of it.
But just think If I'd not seen it in that field on the ground as just a piece of Farmers plastic wrappage? What if I'd not witnessed it rise, by unseen eddys and thermals up way high into the air?.
What if someone had filmed it or photographed it as a very bright daylight object in the sky?
Would it have been someone's UFO? Someone's YouTube post etc?

Yeah I guess this could have been mistaken for a UFO, it goes to show you that 99% of UFO sightings are definitely explainable, and maybe 100% are. |
