                                | hi d.b, the first one, i believe, is the spirit of a schoolmistress of belgium extraction who taught at the school that was at the bottom of these steps at the turn of the 20th century. i got a first name off a very reputable medium here in liverpool, and from that researched the name, and came up with a couple of possibilities that fitted the bill, but only one that appeared to tick all the boxes..
the second one was captured whilst i was photographing an alleyway that i think could be a portal or gateway, and just got the strange feeling that i were being watched turned around and took the shot.........
the third was taken at the same steps that i caught the lady, and the first thing that i thought of was hobgoblin, again research has led me to believe that there have been sightings here of a strange devil like creature that appears from time to time,
i will put up a few more from around this area......

                                | Jim,
Picture 1 appears to be cropped, can you publish the full shot please?.
Picture 2 has been selectively highlighted to give a false impression of a figure IMO
Picture 3 Has had the levels changed far too much and as a result random matrixing is creating patterns that may be interpreted several ways
Picture 4 is most likely airborne moisture droplets and breath
 Picture 5 is picture 3
and Picture 6 are more selectively enhanced areas of random matrixing.

                                | I can see the figure he is talking about in the first picture, but is it really a ghost?
I can see nothing worth talking about in any of the others.

                                | Ideally I'd like to see an uncropped version of the first picture Jim.

                                | Hi Jim, Thanks for going to the trouble to post the original shot as requested.
Opening the picture in Photoshop CS5 and doing various adjustments in contrast, curves and levels I would suggest:
The 'head is actually a lighter patch of pavement that's approximately 8-10ft
from the base of the steps on the left hand side adjacent to the kerb. This could be due to a combination of the ambient lighting and flash fallout and lighter coloration in the pavement surface.
What looks like the 'arm' on the left below the head would seem to be the edge of the kerb also. The rest of 'the body' is simply the brain processing the information in the picture and filling in the gaps to create a vaguely human like figure (see link).
In my opinion this anomaly or ghost is a construction of our pattern seeking mind, more commonly referred to as pareidolia.

Fortunately not all Ghost Forums endorse every piece of evidence for the existence of ghosts posted.
