There is a small town in Massachusetts, called Pepperell. I grew up in pepperell. There was always talk about a witch back in the day. My mom used to joke around and say she thinks she took over for the witch ofNorth Pepperell. I moved a few towns over, and in the same apartment building, lived another girl I grew up with. We started talking and then something came up about another girl we knew who lived in a house where the old witch was suppose to have lived.
Strange things happened, like her and her husband came home and everything off of their counter was on their stove and the electric stove was on. The supposed curse that the witch put upon pepperell had to do with fires. Another night she went to put her baby in her room, and the room was sweltering hot and there was smoke. So she took the baby along with the crib and moved it out the room, and the baby had a complete fit and wouldn't stop crying until Jen put the crib back in the room.
Jess and I tried to research the witch online, and my computer shut off, and wouldn't turn back on.
Then I went away for the night and there was a fire in my town the same night we started re-searching the witch.
We finally went to the library in Pepperell and found a whole file on the witch.
There were three men, who branded her and ran her out of town, while they branded her she cursed fire, the river to run dry, wayward children, marital problems, and tragic deaths.
All the mills burnt to the ground, the river ran dry, Pepperell has a history of wayward children, still to my generation, not many mariages have succeeded, and we've had many deaths. Whether it be our teenagers dying of drug overdoses, suicides, murders, tragic accidents, car accidents, etc.
Theres something that still gets us, and it's about the men who branded her. It was 3 very popular last names, Farror, Wolcott, and Prescott. The curse struck the Shattuck family the worst. They owned the mills, the mills burned, they owned the river, the river ran dry. Their children were dying, etc.
Shattuck had nothing to do with branding the witch, so why did she take her wrath out on that family? It's still strange to think about. But I put some of it together. There is a mansion in Old North Villiage, and it was the Prescott Hotel, and the Prescott Mansion, the women who now owns it is originally a Blood. The Bloods married the Shattucks. I believe that the Bloods were related to the Prescotts, and thats how they got connected.
Has anyone else heard anything about the Witch of North Villiage, or North Pepperell? |
