|
|
When I was about four I had an "imaginary" playmate - which is an odd thing to say because he seemed as solid as anyone. I used to find him up in my bedroom and we would play together. One day he asked me if I would like to see where HE lived, so I said "ok".
He led me out of my room into mum and dad's room, then he opened the door into the cubby hole (A full size door that sits in front of a little room about 3 square - and yes, he actually opened it and not me). I peeped round the corner of the cubby hole and off to the right was a flight of stairs. He was half the way up the stairs and he said to me in a very impatient voice "well.....are you coming or not?" - I told him that mum had said I mustn't go in there so I would go downstairs and ask her if I could go.
I will always remember it as she was at the kitchen sink washing up, her hands all covered in soap suds. I asked her "Mum...where do those stairs upstairs lead to?" She told me there were no stairs upstairs, but I wouldn't take this as an answer and insisted on showing her.
When we got upstairs and I pointed to the cubby hole (and by this time the door was closed oddly enough) I said "In there....the stairs that are in there" - she opened the door and it was piled high with rubbish and glassware. (This was why I wasn't supposed to go in there) - there were of course no stairs, and my imaginary playmate never came back after that day.
The question that I want to ask the forum is this - "I wonder what would have happened if I had followed him?" |

Well as I said - this all happened when I was around 4 years old. The house where I was born was around 200 years old and my grandparents (and my mother)had lived there many years.
One day when I was around 16 years old I happened to mention the story to my mother. She remembered the particular episode and then she started asking me a few questions, like "how was he dressed?" - then she said "No, let me tell you. I bet he had a green velvet suit with knee length white socks and shiny patent leather shoes with big silver buckles - oh and he had REALLY almost white blonde hair" - I said "yes that's exactly right. Have I described him to you before??" She said "No, but when I was a little girl, about 5 or 6, I used to tell your grandmother he was sitting on the foot of my bed, and your grandmother knew that the next day I would fall ill with a bad illness"
Apparently he used to only appear to her previous to any bad illness and would sit at the foot of her bed just grinning at her.
Seems I inherited him. |

Wow, what an experience. Even you mom had it as a child. This is fantastic proof of a spirit as far as I'm concerned. I don't think any of us could know what may have happened to you if you walked down those stairs, however based on your mothers story I think (in my opinion) that you may have died but who knows.
Sounds like the house was really old or was built on a site that had an older house before it. Any idea's on the age of the house? |

Well the house is gone now as part of a modernisation programme, but from what I gather it was built around 1810. It's a case of "out of the frying pan into the fire" - I now live in an old farmhouse that was built around 1600 and has a whole heap of things that have happened. We seem to have one of those "residual" ghosts (same thing that happens over and over) |

Well I suppose the recurring one is the one that seems to walk in through a small window (where a door once stood)then walks through the lounge and out through the hall. It's a shadow that you always catch in peripheral vision. I would dismiss this as a trick of the light if two of us didn't usually see it at the same time and the dog didn't also follow it's progress with it's eyes. It's "anomalous" and several friends have also seen it. One friend turned the corner from the hall and said he almost bumped in to it. He was apologising to it in advance before it dissolved before his eyes. |

Well a residual haunting is just a memory replaying itself over and over so you won't be able to get any details from it or about it, but anyways does anything else happen in the house |

Thanks for sharing Hayzee.
So this young spirit, did he ever "play" with your Mum or did he just appear before she became ill?
Do you remember what you played or what your conversations consisted of?
I realize being 4 or 5 the conversations wouldn't be worldly but still did he ever speak of his family or other friends? |
