About 2 and a half years ago we started finding pink and red beads around the house, they looked like beads off a child's necklace. There was definitely nothing in my house that had beads like this in/on it as we literally searched everywhere. This happened a lot over about 2 years. Every time we found a bead it was near me rather than my partner, like on the floor next to where i sit on the sofa , on the floor by my side of the bed, on a shelf i was cleaning, once under my pillow, once under the duvet on my side of the bed, once on a chair as i lifted the cushion off it was there right in the middle of the chair. Another time when i was home alone i stood up from the computer chair and saw one on the chair right underneath where i was sitting. The beads always appeared out of nowhere, like we made the bed and 5 mins later as i pulled the cover back there was a bead when i know it wasn't there before. Ive got a big collection of them now in my jewellery box, i just kept them as i didn't feel threatened and thought of them as a gift.
Anyway for about 8 or 9 months now we have had nothing. Last night we got in and my partner went to the bedroom and i was sat in the front room on the sofa. I put my handbag on the sofa next to me and started watching tv. About 5/10 mins later i went in my bag for some reason then put it on the flor and as i moved it i noticed a blue rubber duck underneath it just sitting on the sofa. This duck i have two of in my bathroom either side of the window ledge. I asked my partner if he put it there and he said no and i honestly believe him as i never saw him come anywhere near the sofa and im positive it wasn't there as i sat down, the sofa was empty, nothing on it. Well i was a bit freaked out butdidn'tt let it get 2 me 2 much. Tonight however was a different matter. About an hour ago my partner and i sat on the sofa to watch a film. We have a corner sofa, one edge is against the wall, the other bit has nothing behind it. The door where you come in to the front room is sort of behind so if you walked in to the room you would walk past the back of the sofa if you know what i mean. Well my partner was sat with his back to the wall, i was sat with my back to nothing. I no for 100% certain that as i sat down there was nothing on the sofa. 2 mins in 2 the film i saw my partner lookin next to me with a look of shock on hisfacee nd i instantly thought omg what so i stood up, and right in the corner of the sofa on the back bit the duck was there again (the same one as before) and it was placed right next to my head. I never felt it being put there but it was literally right next to my head.
Both times this duck was placed there sitting up right facing out, in the corner facing the same direction as the corner if you know what i mean.
I found out this afternoon an old man who lived next door to us died yesterday and a part of me thought is it him? Another thought is that its the same spirit as before, maybe giving me the duck as a present as im 2 months pregnant with our first child, and i know rubber ducks are something babies have in the bath? Those are just a couple of ideas ive had. Well whatever it is i know for a million percent it wasnt my partner, and no one else lives with us. I am literally certain that its a ghost, i know people always try to come up with other explanations but when you see it with your own eyes, well you just know its something that cannot be explained. Im terrified now !!
Does anyone have any similar experiences or have any idea why a ghost would be doing this to me, and what can i do about this?
Sorry its a long post

Hi Jeni, thanks for posting. I'll certainly reply in detail tomorrow. Don't automatically assume this is paranormal or anything to do with ghosts though. I will have some questions if you'd be so kind to answer them though.

hiya jeni, welcome to the forums
sounds scary, if that happened to anyone i think they would feel the same way as you do, what ever it is thats putting the objects down doesnt seem to want to do any harm, maybe its just to let you know they are there
listen to DB though, he knows his stuff |

Hello again Jeni
Firstly don't be scared. Although these events may be unnerving the only thing that's going to make things worse is your own fear plus there is every probability that the mystery of the duck and beads has an explanation that has no connection to anything supernatural.
Secondly, I'm sure that the death of the old man and the timing of the duck is purely coincidental and certainly has no connection to the beads.
I'm not a great believer in ghosts and the paranormal (having investigated and studied it for decades) and have found that most things have an often odd but perfectly logical explanation.
The activity you're experiencing could be RSPK - Recurrent Spontaneous Psycho Kinesis which is believed by some to be the source of most poltergeist activity (please don't think this is poltergeist related at this point), this is the term for when unexplained events happen repeatedly in the vicinity of an individual - in your case the appearance of the beads and the duck. Although the scientific evidence for RSPK is minimal it certainly could explain why certain people find objects (or apports as they're known in paranormal circles) appearing - seemingly out of nowhere.
At this stage I have a few questions, the first of which is how many beads in total did you find, were they all identical except for the colour and how often were you finding them?.
Was the duck warm to the touch, how big is it and does it squeak?.
These might seem odd questions but I think they're important.

Don't worry there's an infallible cure for this sort of problem. All you have to do is set-up a camcorder or video camera+DVR (preferably with motion detection) in the affected area. This will either reveal the cause of the objects appearing or stop it happening.
I know this to be true because on the countless occasions I have recommended this course of action, the 'victim' has never been heard of again. |

Hi DB thanks for your response, in answer to your questions;
I have 11 beads in my jewellery box, 6 pink and 5 red, all identical though. I went through stages of finding them, one day i found 3 (which was the most frequent) the last time i had one it was about 2 or 3 months since the one before so there was really no pattern apart from that they were always found either by me or around my things.
I didnt pick up the duck after but my partner said it was normal as faras he can remember. The duck is probably an average size rubber duck, sorry if thats not very helpful, and no it does not squeak.
I dont feel threatened in my house but it definately scared me because ive never been sure what to believe when it comes to the supernatural, but when something happens to you like this and you know 100% certain its not a prank, well it certainly made my heart race !! |

Excellent suggestion.

Thanks for the reply Jeni,
I'll post a full response tonight. Inn Spectre has made a very good suggestion although you will probably just get endless footage where nothing happens - but it will stop any further duckery.

I don't know how it works, all I know is that whenever someone resolves to do it we never hear from them again, so it must work. I'm quite sure it'll be the same with you. |

Given the small number of beads found I'd say this was just beads being found that could have gotten into the house by any number of non paranormal means.
The duck appearing could have been a trick, misperception, faulty memory or issues relating to stress, tiredness etc.
When phenomena is filmed or subjected to any obvious electronic scrutiny it tends to stop.

Jeni_luvvedup, if everything you say IS the TRUTH, i believe you, and i believe it is a ghost.
you said

and

I dont feel threatened in my house but it definately scared me because ive never been sure what to believe
|
from what you described you have nothing to worry about, this thing doesnt seem to mean you any harm, although i dont know the meaning of the beads and the duck - they could be two seperate entities unrelated
it is a good idea to set up cameras, even if only where the ducks are to see if you catch anything
the last time you posted was Nov 2010, has anything happened since? |

Jeni_luvvedup, if everything you say IS the TRUTH, i believe you, and i believe it is a ghost.
If I posted (under a different name) saying that I was being haunted by Michael Jackson would you believe ME just because I said so Cactus?.
If that's all it takes to convince you then YouTube must seem like the Encyclopedia Brittanica to you.
