Personally I think spirits prefer the dark as it is usually quite cold and whenever paranormal activity is in progress temperatures normally take a steep dip as when I worked security and would patrol the basement of a well-known manor house in Kent the temperature would often take a sharp dip even at the height of summer and that was usually when most activity was going on. I guess it,s easier for a dark spirit to make use of the dark for whatever it wants to do. Just my opinion of course! |

it goes cold cos spirits draw the energy from the air which leaves cold spots
its quieter at night which gives them a chance to be heard more
all my experiences have been at night |

I think this is right - you don't pay as much attention during the day - there is activity and people everywhere and you are busier.
I think in most ghost encounters, the spirit knows what it is doing, and chooses to visit or show itself to the person usually when they are alone. |
