Hi Chandru,
If i'm looking for a local business, a supplier or tradesman I usually just do a search in Google such as - Plumbers Edinburgh or Italian Restaurant Edinburgh. I don't use Yellow Pages or any hard copy advertisements - even though I worked for Yell.com for 10 years.
The best way to advertise online is by search engine optimisation and ensuring you're website is appearing when people are doing searches for your type of business. This involves work on your part - by thinking how your customers would search for your trade if they needed you. There are websites that tell you how to do this. If you're struggling to find any good ones let me know and I'll send you some links.
